WARSAW — Some Cameroonian children in need will be sleeping more comfortably thanks to the efforts of members of the Eastern Rural Roman Catholic Community.

The five ERRCC worship sites, based in Wyoming and Genesee counties, learned about problems in Cameroon from one of their pastors, Fr. Denning Achidi.

Achidi, originally from Cameroon, shared his concerns with the Catholic Community’s Matthew 25 committee, a peace and social justice organization.

Achidi learned that Cameroonian children were losing their parents, being kept from attending school and living in unsafe situations due to political volatility. He then connected the Matthew 25 members with Sally Mbah, who helps run the Solidarity Orphanage in Bawok Village, Cameroon.

Mbah’s Orphanage has suddenly almost doubled in size to 31 children, which meant kids were now sleeping five to a bed. Mbah said that the orphans weren’t resting well and that illness was spreading quickly due to sleeping in close conditions…...Read More
